A virtual admission and discharge nurse is a nursing professional who supports the bedside nursing and healthcare team with all the “hands-off” components relating to a patient's admission, discharge, and transfer process.
06. Does a Virtual Admission and Discharge Nurse replace the bedside nurse?
No. A virtual nurse integrates and collaborates with the onsite nursing and healthcare team, producing a cohesive team to address the patient’s needs.
07. What are some of the benefits of a Virtual Admission/Discharge Nurse?
Virtual nursing professionals help to optimize the bedside healthcare team by reducing clinical documentation and non-clinical tasks, allowing for a quicker response and more time to attend to the patient’s needs. In turn, healthcare teams run more efficiently, improving patient care delivery, nursing and medical staff satisfaction, and quality of care ratings. Additionally, virtual nursing professionals help to reduce operational costs by alleviating the burdens of shift coverage and staffing expenses.
08. What is a Post-Discharge Follow-Up Specialist?

The post-discharge follow-up specialist helps to identify and address a patient's actions, questions, misunderstandings, and discharge plan information and discrepancies. This healthcare strategy improves patient outcomes, enhances patient satisfaction, and reduces additional costs associated with readmission.
